(Prov 8:1 NASB) Does not wisdom call, And understanding lift up her voice?
Prov 8:1: Wisdom is personified in the feminine gender in this chapter.
(Prov 8:2 NASB) On top of the heights beside the way, Where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
(Prov 8:3 NASB) Beside the gates, at the opening to the city, At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:
Prov 8:3: Wisdom stands in the most available places and cries out to men.
(Prov 8:4 NASB) “To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men.
(Prov 8:5 NASB) “O naive ones, discern prudence; And, O fools, discern wisdom.
(Prov 8:6 NASB) “Listen, for I shall speak noble things; And the opening of my lips will produce right things.
(Prov 8:7 NASB) “For my mouth will utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
Prov 8:7: Keep in mind that wisdom is taking heed to Torah and being obedient to it. That is why Paul called Yeshua Messiah our wisdom from Elohim (1 Cor. 1:24-25, 30). Wisdom cries out to all men. Even to the naive and the fools (Psalm 94:8-12).
(Prov 8:8 NASB) “All the utterances of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverted in them.
(Prov 8:9 NASB) “They are all straightforward to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge.
Prov 8:9: All of Torah is righteousness. Although Christians have a wrong view of it, there is nothing crooked or perverted in Torah.
(Prov 8:10 NASB) “Take my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choicest gold.
(Prov 8:11 NASB) “For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things can not compare with her.
(Prov 8:12 NASB) “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion.
(Prov 8:13 NASB) “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way, And the perverted mouth, I hate.
Prov 8:13: We cannot put a value on wisdom and instruction.
(Prov 8:14 NASB) “Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine.
(Prov 8:15 NASB) “By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice.
(Prov 8:16 NASB) “By me princes rule, and nobles, All who judge rightly.
(Prov 8:17 NASB) “I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.
Prov 8:17: James tell us that if we ask for wisdom, it will be granted to us (James 1:5). John tells us that we will receive what we ask for if we are obedient to His commandments (1 John 3:21-22).
(Prov 8:18 NASB) “Riches and honor are with me, Enduring wealth and righteousness.
(Prov 8:19 NASB) “My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, And my yield than choicest silver.
(Prov 8:20 NASB) “I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice,
(Prov 8:21 NASB) To endow those who love me with wealth, That I may fill their treasuries.
Prov 8:21: His people will inherit wealth better than the riches of this world (1 Peter 1:3-4).
(Prov 8:22 NASB) “The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.
(Prov 8:23 NASB) “From everlasting I was established, From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.
Prov 8:23: Since wisdom is the Word of the Father, wisdom was possessed by Elohim before creation. This passage is where John learned it (John 1:1-2, 1 John 1:1-2). Micah tells us also that the Word of the Father made flesh was from eternity (Micah 5:2).
(Prov 8:24 NASB) “When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no springs abounding with water.
(Prov 8:25 NASB) “Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills I was brought forth;
(Prov 8:26 NASB) While He had not yet made the earth and the fields, Nor the first dust of the world.
(Prov 8:27 NASB) “When He established the heavens, I was there, When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
(Prov 8:28 NASB) When He made firm the skies above, When the springs of the deep became fixed,
Prov 8:28: Wisdom (the Word of Elohim) was there before anything was created. Through His Word, He created all things (Psalm 33:6-9).
(Prov 8:29 NASB) When He set for the sea its boundary, So that the water should not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth;
(Prov 8:30 NASB) Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him,
(Prov 8:31 NASB) Rejoicing in the world, His earth, And having my delight in the sons of men.
(Prov 8:32 NASB) “Now therefore, O sons, listen to me, For blessed are they who keep my ways.
Prov 8:32: Blessed are they who keep His ways. His ways are His Torah (Psalm 1:1-4, 119:1-6,
(Prov 8:33 NASB) “Heed instruction and be wise, And do not neglect it.
(Prov 8:34 NASB) “Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at my doorposts.
(Prov 8:35 NASB) “For he who finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD.
(Prov 8:36 NASB) “But he who sins against me injures himself; All those who hate me love death.”
